Like a canary that sings from distant,
Thou heal my pain from a far-flung,
With thy beautiful songs unsung,
They sedate my pains in an instant.
Oh bird, thou were born prior to me,
Thou were tamed before I came,
And were given a beautiful name,
But why do thou sing purely to me!
Thy honey-tongue allures me to life,
Pouring drops of oil to fading flames,
A new awakening of my own aims,
Enticing me to the passions of life.
Singing from a distant tree, thou add fervor
To this passionate life – thy voice so clear.
The warmth of thy tender love so near,
To my unripe fruit, adds an effervescent flavor.
Thou art my muse, gorgeous Lady Canary!
Rousing fresh fondness to thy yellow attire,
Thou art the epitome of all that I admire
This lingering life is thine, my Yellow Canary!
